Every hour one man dies from prostate Cancer in the UK, accounting for 13% of all male deaths from Cancer.

No matter how long I stare at this fact, I find it so hard to comprehend. It leaves me cold.

Movember is not far around the corner. We've all heard about Movember, and seen the chaps with moustaches, and if you know me then you may know that I am a supporter of this great cause. I have been a self-declared Mo Bro for the last four years, but have never campaigned for sponsorship. This year is different. This year I want to make a difference for something that I believe in, and I am going to ask for your help. Every one of you.

What am I doing?

I am taking part in a project called Mo Miles, to raise awareness and understanding of the health risks that men face.

The aim of Mo Miles is to cover as many miles as I can - just myself and my mo. Each day I will take a self-portrait, and you all have the power to control where I go to take this. I am pretty much in your hands.

As with everything in life, there are some rules...

Why am I doing this?

It's hard to choose a cause to support, there are so many. A big reason for doing this is that I have been a casual supporter for several years, but have never taken the plunge and committed fully. Now is my time. It's easy to say "yeah, I'm supporting Movember to raise money for Prostate Cancer", but I was shocked when I read some of the facts surrounding mens health.

How can you help?

Part 2 : November

100% of money raised will be donated to Movember.

The rules

Updated 12/10/14

Initial feedback has indicated that I have been too cryptic with my rules, and that people are not clear how Mo Miles will work. Hopefully the following information makes this clearer:

  • Throughout Movember I will be visiting 6 European cities (including London), which are located on the map below. the cities are not labelled, as they are a secret.
  • Your nomination does not determine the city that I will visit. All cities have been decided already. Your nomination determines where I go when I am in that city.
  • I have not said which cities I am visiting as I want you to guess - let's face it, it makes it more fun, and more satisfying for those that have a succesful nomination.
  • I have greatly narrowed down the possibilities with the addition of the map - apologies for spoiling the surprise, but I shan't be visiting any non-European cities on this adventure. There is always next year…
Europe
  • Nominations open Wednesday 1st October and close on Friday 31st October. During this time you can make as many nominations as you wish.
  • Starting on Saturday 1st November I will be randomly assigned a nomination* each day. This will be chosen from all nominations that are based in the city that I am currently in.
  • When I have read my nomination I will post on and . I then have until 12 midnight to capture the requested photograph, which will be posted to Instagram. Failure to do so will result in a penalty.
  • Don't have Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram? You can find everything you need to keep up with my progress at momiles.co.uk.
  • If there are no nominations that are based in the city that I am currently in, then I will pick a location for myself (this isn't as fun though, so please fire as many nominations at me as you can muster).
  • If a nomination is the same as any of the 30 locations that I visited last year, then it will be discounted. Where did I go last year?
  • The process is anonymous until I have been presented with my nomination. I will have no idea how many people have nominated, or who has nominated.
  • The name of the nominator will be announced when I post the photograph.
  • If you are the successful nominator AND you have sponsored me, then I will match your sponsorship amount.
  • Please be creative with your nominations. Although I work in London, I may be venturing elsewhere (look at last year's adventure for inspiration…)

*I won't be choosing. The 'Where to mo' tool will choose for me. It's a clever tool that knows where on Earth I am.

During this challenge, 720 men in the UK will die from Prostate Cancer.

Makes you think doesn't it?
